BO: Salman Opening With 50 Cr, But…

The Hindi audience are no longer running after superstars and giving them massive openings, regardless of the content. Only properly marketed films that are showing great promise with promotional material and trailer are getting adequate attraction at the box office.

I’m coming to the topic now, we have Salman Khan, who is arriving this Eid with Sikandar. This film is preparing for release on March 30, and it is one of the better hyped films from Salman in recent times.

The advance bookings opened yesterday, and they opened on a positive note. In total, the film is expected to sell around three lakh tickets on online ticketing portals before the release.

This is a pretty decent number if we compare it to the recent Bollywood star hero films. It is not quite on the range of SRK’s Jawan and Pathan, but it’s decent.

It is projected that Sikandar would open in the range of ₹50 crore on the opening day. Again, this is a decent number in itself.

However, the point that must be noted, here is that the film was carrying much better, anticipation and hype and was projected to collect a bigger number.

But a mediocre teaser and lack of exciting promotional material till now have resulted in depleted box office opening prospect. This could perhaps be attributed to Director Murugadoss for coming up with mediocre stuff thus far.

Nevertheless, Salman is at least able to bring face saving openings, unlike Akshay Kumar, who is struggling big time. Now that decent opening is guaranteed, it has to be seen how Sikandar would do over the first week.

Salman Khan is in desperate need of big success at the box office that would replenish his market, and it has to be seen if Sikandar would be able to do the same.
