SlumDog – 33 Temple Road Release Update

The team of SlumDog – 33 Temple Road has wished Tabu on her birthday by sharing working stills from the film. While the birthday wishes have brought the project back into the spotlight, the makers are yet to announce its theatrical release date.

Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film features Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, alongside Tabu, Samyuktha, Duniya Vijay and others. The entire shooting was wrapped up in October, with Puri promising that the release date would be announced soon. However, there has been no official clarity on the film’s theatrical arrival.

Interestingly, industry buzz suggests that financial issues stemming from Puri Jagannadh’s previous films, particularly Liger and Double iSmart, could be one of the reasons behind the delay. Distributors who reportedly incurred losses from these films are said to be seeking settlements, creating hurdles for the business of his new project.

There are also reports of difficulties in closing the theatrical and OTT deals, with a gap between the prices expected by the producers and the offers coming from buyers and streaming platforms.

Although the makers have not officially acknowledged these issues, the continuing delay in announcing the release date has raised questions about the film’s release plans.
