Biggest Sequel Disaster: 20 Cr Weekend, 40 Cr LT

Son of Sardaar 2 Flop: Struggles to Cross ₹40 Cr Lifetime Box Office
Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 has unfortunately joined the list of Bollywood’s biggest sequel disasters. Despite being backed by a known franchise, big-budget production, and aggressive marketing by ADFFilms and Jio Studios, the comedy-drama has failed to connect with audiences.

The film opened to a disappointing ₹7.50 crore nett on Friday, followed by only 6% growth on Saturday with ₹8 crore. Its two-day total stood at just ₹15.50 crore nett, with Sunday offering little hope for a major turnaround.

Poor critical reception, including a 1.5/5 rating from Taran Adarsh, along with weak word of mouth and outdated humour, have further accelerated its decline.

Trade experts now predict that Son of Sardaar 2 may struggle to even cross ₹40 crore nett in its lifetime run — a shocking outcome for a major Bollywood sequel.

With War 2 and Coolie set to release on August 14, the film’s chances of recovery appear slim. This performance has raised concerns for upcoming sequels, though the makers are still banking on Golmaal 5 to revive their comedy brand.
