Trailer Talk: 500-Cr Diwali Blockbuster Loading?

Thamma trailer scene with Ayushmann Khurrana

The trailer of Thamma is finally out, bringing a new entry to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film introduces vampires for the first time. The trailer grabs your attention but does not fully impress, keeping the excitement for the theatres.

The story hints at an evil vampire, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui, trapped in a cave for over 1000 years and waiting to be released. Ayushmann Khurrana transforms into a bloodthirsty creature, resembling Varun Dhawan’s wolf change in Bhediya, with solid visual effects enhancing the scene.

Action sequences and jungle chases leave a strong impression. Sathyaraj returns as Elvis Karim Prabhakar, adding charm to the trailer. The jokes in the trailer are not strong, but the makers seem to have reserved the humour for the theatre experience.

The trailer hints at a battle between Ayushmann and Nawazuddin. Rashmika Mandanna appears mostly silent but may play a key role in the protagonist’s success. The full film will reveal what leads to this conflict, building suspense for the audience.

Ayushmann steps into the horror genre for the first time. Expectations are high as Bollywood is in a slow phase, and Maddock’s previous films had limited box office impact. Diwali release timing and franchise popularity may boost collections, but Rs. 500 crore-plus success depends on content quality.
