90s Nostalgia Meets Gen Z Vibes: VD’s Final Song Shoot

The shoot of David Dhawan’s comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is nearing completion. Varun Dhawan recently filmed the high energy end credit dance number at Mehboob Studios in Bandra. The set features a multi level design with a bridge and rotating platform.

Choreographer Vijay Ganguly, known for Aaj Ki Raat and Galti Se Mistake, is leading the song. This is his first collaboration with Varun. The number includes sixty background dancers and light comic moments. A short tribute to Govinda adds a nostalgic 90s touch.

Expectations for the father son duo remain mixed. Varun Dhawan has struggled at the box office in recent years with films like Bawaal and JugJugg Jeeyo. His return to commercial comedy seems aimed at regaining the mass appeal he enjoyed in Main Tera Hero.

David Dhawan continues to rely on his familiar blend of slapstick humour and music driven style. Whether this formula still works for today’s audience is unclear. Much will depend on the writing and the timing of the release.

Starring Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur with Varun Dhawan, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is set for release on 5 June 2026. With filming nearly complete, the team is preparing for the promotional phase.
