Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has been delayed from its original April 10, 2026 release to June 5, 2026.
Directed by David Dhawan and produced by Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films, the comedy features Varun alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in a lighthearted romantic setup. The cast also includes Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Sheirgill, Chunky Panday, and Mouni Roy, promising a mix of familiar comic faces.
The title takes inspiration from a song in David Dhawan’s Biwi No. 1, aiming to revive the charm of his signature 90s-style comedy. However, his recent work, including Coolie No. 1, failed to strike a chord with audiences, raising questions about whether this formula still works in today’s market.
For Varun Dhawan, the film comes at a crucial time. Since 2020, most of his releases from JugJugg Jeeyo to Bawaal have struggled to sustain momentum. Apart from Bhediya, none has performed strongly enough to boost his box office standing.
With Baby John facing uncertainty, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai could either mark Varun’s comeback or continue his run of commercial setbacks.
While Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur add star value, the film’s success may depend on whether David Dhawan adapts his storytelling to modern sensibilities or sticks to an outdated comic formula.
