Fans of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt have been waiting for the next film in the Dulhania franchise. After the success of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017), expectations for a third part remain high.
Director Shashank Khaitan has now spoken about the status of Dulhania 3. He confirmed that he, Varun, and Alia are keen to work together again. The team often discusses ideas but has not finalised anything yet.
The main reason for the delay is the search for the right story. Shashank said they will not move forward until they have a script that feels fresh and engaging. The goal is to create something that continues the franchise meaningfully.
He explained that the responsibility to fans is important. The idea is not to make a sequel just for the sake of it. The story has to connect with the audience in the same emotional and entertaining way as the earlier films.
Producer Karan Johar also said the franchise will return only with a script that does justice to its place among Bollywood love stories. Until then, the wait for Dulhania 3 continues, but the intent to reunite Varun and Alia is strong.
