Bollywood’s Big Lie Exposed by War 2?

Bollywood has embraced the trend of franchise films and interconnected storylines under the banner of a “universe” inspired by Marvel and DC. Yet this approach is failing to create the excitement and love that filmmakers expected. Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe did not achieve the desired success with titles like Singham Again performing poorly.

YRF’s Spyverse is also struggling to connect with audiences. Fans had high expectations from Tiger 3 starring Salman Khan but the film left many disappointed. Now even War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan is not generating the level of buzz people anticipated.

Advance bookings for War 2 remain low. Although pre-sales have improved slightly they are still far from impressive especially for the sequel to the blockbuster War. By Monday the film had sold only 48,000 tickets across PVR Inox and Cinepolis combined. With the trend still weak the next two days are critical. The film must sell at least 2.5 lakh tickets before Wednesday midnight to secure a strong Northern market opening.

The only hope left is that positive word of mouth spreads quickly to boost sales or the Spyverse may face yet another setback. The lack of excitement is clear. Bollywood action films have been following the same predictable formula for years leaving little room for surprises. Viewers feel they are seeing the same content simply repackaged.

Audiences now demand smarter storytelling fresh ideas and films that truly justify their time. It is time for Bollywood to listen.
