Will Shah Rukh Khan Fulfill This Director’s Dream?

Madhur Bhandarkar, who has given us films like Fashion and Chandni Bar, recently spoke about his shelved project Inspector Ghalib.

His last few films, like Babli Bouncer and India Lockdown, didn’t connect with the audience, and his filmmaking style seems outdated.

In the interview, he revealed that Inspector Ghalib was conceived before 2018 as a gritty action film about a cop in UP, with initial talks with Shah Rukh Khan for the project. However, the pandemic happened, and the film was shelved. Bhandarkar still hopes to revisit the project someday.

Since Bhandarkar is so passionate about the film, SRK’s recent success with Pathaan and Jawan means he is now working with directors who can give him critical acclaim and commercial success.

Bhandarkar’s recent failures raise doubts about his ability to handle a star of SRK’s stature. He may still win awards for creative films, but handling SRK and delivering a box office hit seems beyond his capacity. So, the dream collaboration seems far away.

Bhandarkar expressed hope in his recent interview, but the changing Bollywood landscape and SRK’s career graph suggest this collaboration is unlikely to happen.
