Hollywood stalwarts Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will team up for Netflix’s forthcoming crime drama Animals, the streaming service said on Thursday. Affleck, 51, will direct Animals, while Damon, 53, will return to the screen under his guidance.
“Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, longtime collaborators, are joining up again. “Affleck will direct Damon in the abduction thriller Animals for Netflix,” the official Netflix handle said on X, along with an image of Affleck and Damon sitting together at an awards ceremony.
The picture, co-produced by Dani Bernfeld and Damon and Affleck’s Artists Equity label, promises an explosive and fascinating plot. Animals will center on a politician and his wife who confront difficult hurdles as they embark on a journey to save their stolen son.
Damon, Affleck, and Artists Equity’s most recent collaboration, Air, was a huge success, getting excellent reviews and ranking as one of Amazon’s highest-grossing theatrical successes, making an incredible USD 90 million at the global box office.
The Boston-born pals, whose friendship has lasted decades, have a lengthy history of on-screen cooperation that dates back to their Oscar-winning debut in Good Will Hunting (1997). Their most recent collaboration, The Last Duel (2021), also earned positive feedback.
