Buzz Around The Beekeeper Rakes Big Numbers

The Beekeeper

The Beekeeper, an action film in which Statham portrays a clandestine operator who also breeds bees, outperformed predictions domestically, debuting at number two behind Mean Girls reimagining. The film made $16.7 million in its first three days of release and is likely to earn over $19 million over the extended period. The Beekeeper also premiered in 49 other regions, grossing $20 million, bringing the film’s total global debut to slightly under $40 million, or 39 million.

The B-movie received a solid B+ CinemaScore from opening-day viewers and presently holds a “fresh” 68% approval rating on review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes. The audience response is even better, at 93%. Nate Richard from Collider noted in his review that Statham’s “latest action feast has an appropriate quantity of foolishness, violence, and grit.”
