Disney Afraid Of Car Washers? Yes, True!

Star-Wash

It seems that the Force isn’t helping Star Wash, a little car wash company in Chile. They were sued by Lucasfilm, the team behind the Star Wars movies.

The reason? Matias Jara, the person who owns Star Wash, wanted to make his car cleaning business more exciting. So, he made his workers dress up as characters from Star Wars like Darth Vader, Chewbacca and Boba Fett.

Jara says he thought of the idea when he went to a Disney park with his daughter. She suggested the joke about Star Wars. He says he didn’t mean to break Lucasfilm’s ownership rights, but just wanted to give his customers a fun and different experience. He says his name is different enough from the movie title to avoid mix-ups, and he doesn’t sell any stuff or products connected with the movie series.

But, Lucasfilm does not see it like that. The firm, bought by Disney in 2012, is suing Jara for copying its very costly brand. They want him to stop using the name.

Jara is shocked and upset because of the lawsuit. He’s ready to talk with Lucasfilm to find a friendly solution. He says he likes Star Wars and respects the people who made it, but also thinks he should be able to run his business how he wants. He says he’s not making films or selling toys, but just offering top-notch car cleaning service.
