Years have passed, yet ‘Bob the Builder’ stays vivid in the memories of those who have seen it.
There is some positive news for the show’s fans. The Friendly Handyman, which premiered on the BBC 25 years ago, is about to get its big-screen debut. Jennifer Lopez will produce the film herself.
The film will follow Roberto (commonly known as Bob) on a visit to Puerto Rico for an important large-scale construction undertaking, in which he “deals with issues affecting the region and explores more into what it means to build.” Bob’s voyage will highlight the rich and colorful textures of Caribbean Latin nations and their people.
Mattel Films is preparing to premiere a new feature featuring the popular character Bob the Builder, based on the iconic animation. The script, written by Felipe Vargas, will be directed by Anthony Ramos, who previously worked on ‘Grapefruit & Heat Death!’.
The film will go into the themes of friendship, love, and the ability of love to transcend adversities. Mattel Films President Robbie Brenner applauded Ramos and Vargas’ brilliance concept, saying the film will appeal to both ‘Barbie’ aficionados and new audiences. The triumph of Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ has cleared the way for additional Mattel films to captivate moviegoers.
