In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, actor Sam Worthington revealed that filming for the highly anticipated ‘AVATAR 4’ is set to resume next month, promising an epic installment in the fantasy franchise. The 47-year-old actor, who portrays Jake Sully in the series, emphasized that the upcoming film is “bigger than you can imagine.”
The AVATAR franchise, which began in 2009, has captivated audiences with its immersive world and groundbreaking visuals. Zoe Saldaña reprises her role as Neytiri alongside Worthington.
The most recent addition, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ hit theaters in 2022, grossing a colossal $2.3 billion worldwide. However, it fell short of unseating the original ‘Avatar,’ which still holds the title of the highest-grossing film of all time with $2.9 billion.
Director James Cameron provided insights into the challenges faced during the production of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ acknowledging the impact of the pandemic on the filmmaking process. Despite the hurdles, Cameron assured fans that ‘Avatar 3’ is “right on track” for its new release date on December 19, 2025.
