Despite the global popularity of the Mission Impossible franchise, The Final Reckoning, featuring Tom Cruise, is currently lagging behind Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer in advance ticket sales in India.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Angela Bassett.
With just three days left before release, the action drama has sold only around 50,000 tickets. This numbers are significantly lower than Oppenheimer, which had already crossed the 90,000 mark in the same time frame.
Interestingly, the biographical drama, despite being A-rated and less commercial, outperformed even Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 at the Indian box office.
Everyone remembers how Mission Impossible 7 was a theatrical success in India. However, the film failed to turn a global profit.
Paramount Pictures India, which is responsible for distributing The Final Reckoning, is currently under pressure following a string of underwhelming releases.
Right now, industry insiders feel that the audience response and post-release word-of-mouth will be crucial to determining the box office fate of The Final Reckoning.
However, the latest reactions from the Indian audiences does not seem to be in the favor of Dead Reckoning. With his latest film struggling to sell tickets in the market, the results will surely baffle the industry experts.
Tom Cruise undoubtedly has a huge fanbase in India and people also love to see him as Ethan Hunt on the big screen.
Although there is no answer to why the sales are so low, it is possible that a few people might be missing the thrilling elements that was featured in the first few films.
Dead Reckoning’s trailer has promised a grand scale experience for the audience. Considering that the film is releasing on Saturday, only time will tell if people will opt for on-spot bookings to see Tom Cruise in theatres.
