One Week & Dune Part 2 Sweeps Past Part 1

Denis Villeneuve’s science fiction blockbuster Dune: Part Two has already surpassed its predecessor Dune: Part One’s domestic box office receipts from 2021. After just one week in theatres, the movie has already made over $111 million in the US, outpacing Dune’s slightly over $109 million domestic run.

At this point, Dune: Part Two is more than halfway to surpassing the film’s $400 million global box office haul. Due in part to the COVID-19 epidemic, the two-part film’s enormous surge in popularity can be ascribed to its day-and-date debut on HBO Max.

Despite this, movie fans continued to find the idea appealing, and box office tickets were sold. Dune: Part Two has increased its initial $400 million budget by $30 million. Based on the novel by Frank Herbert, Dune: Part Two is a science fiction movie starring Christopher Walken, Javier Bardem, and Austin Butler.

The movie centers on Paul Atreides, who flees with his mother and the Fremen and fights to cope with the Fremen prophecy, halt Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, and retake the world from the Harkonnens. Villeneuve is the director of this Warners and Legendary co-production.
