Rumors Failed! No 9-Hour Cut Of Avatar

James Cameron, the director of Avatar 3, has responded to rumors of a nine-hour reduction. The Avatar franchise will continue with three more sequels, following the journey of Jake (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and their new family. The newest sequel was a box-office success.

Not long following the sequel’s release, rumors circulated that Cameron had submitted a nine-hour edit of Avatar 3, with additional claiming that the cut would have full VFX and be broadcast on Disney Plus. With Avatar 3’s debut just under two years away, Cameron chats with Temple of Geek to put it to rest, admitting that no nine-hour edit exists or was planned.

Avatar: The Way of Water, is a tremendously costly film, with a duration of three hours and 12 minutes, and took years to produce. The film’s VFX-heavy nature, which shares certain expenditures with Avatar 3, has sparked rumors of a nine-hour edit of Avatar 3 that might make financial sense. However, the cost and time required for such a reduction were not considered.

Cameron has indicated that the technology is not yet advanced enough to make an Avatar television series a viable possibility. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Avatar 3, moviegoers should expect the film and its two sequels to be around three hours long.
