The latest episode of PBS’ genealogy series “Finding Your Roots,” revealed an unexpected connection between actor Bob Odenkirk and royalty of Unity Kingdom. Host Henry Louis Gates Jr. traces Odenkirk’s lineage back five generations to Friedrich Carl Steinholz, who is the actor’s fifth great grandfather, born in Plön, Germany in 1755.

It is known that Steinholz’s mother had a relationship with the Duke of Plön, linking Odenkirk to the royal families of Europe through intermarriage.

Before the revelation, when being asked about Monarchy, actor of “Better Call Saul,” expressed skepticism. “I’m an American. I’m not a monarchist. I don’t believe in that. You know, I feel like it’s a little twisted,” but he humorously responded, “Well maybe I’ll change my mind on that” after finding out that he and the current King Charles are eleventh cousins.

Gates, joining into the jest, jokes about Odenkirk “trashing” his newfound royal family. “How they make a living. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. You ain’t been royal for more than five minutes!”

The news of Odenkirk’s royal connection sparked a gust of reactions on social media platform. One user amusedly contemplates on X, “So we live in a reality, where (theoretically) if enough people perished, Bob Odenkirk would be the King of England???” Another user from England playfully chimes in, “Mate, I think all us England cats would prefer you to be King.”

Odenkirk also receives admiration from fans, “Even when finding out he’s related to elitists, Bob Odenkirk stays goated.”
