J.B. Perrette, head of streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery, spoke about the company’s future aspirations, especially for its gaming division, at the meeting.
Warner Bros. is focusing more on live services, looking at major franchises like Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones, and DC, and expanding in the mobile and multiplatform free-to-play live service market.
This is despite the success of its major single-player releases last year. Perrette thinks that there is more room for expansion in the gaming industry, especially in the mobile and cross-platform free-to-play markets.
Later this year, WB intends to release free-to-play mobile games, emphasizing live services such as Harry Potter and Hogwarts Legacy. The weak showing of Suicide Squad hasn’t stopped WB from promoting these films. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League received a low review praising its combat system but repetitious goal kinds.
The comedy is spot-on and the characters are well-written, but only ardent players can truly evolve the game. Suicide Squad has potential, but for now, only fans will find it entertaining.
