Salaar Dunki Animal Tiger 3

SS Rajamouli achieved a remarkable feat with the 1800-crore grosser Baahubali 2 in 2017 and replicated his success with RRR in 2022, which garnered around 1400 crores worldwide.

Shah Rukh Khan joined the league of 1000-crore grossers last year, delivering two consecutive all-time blockbusters – Pathaan (1050 crores) and Jawan (1164 crores). The 1000-crore milestone became the key indicator of a film’s success in India.

Both SS Rajamouli and Shah Rukh Khan made the seemingly challenging task of reaching 1000 crores appear like a cakewalk. This trend led fans to anticipate every new release from their favorite stars as a potential 1000-crore film.

Anticipation was high for Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 and Prabhas’ Salaar, expected to be surefire 1000-crore hits. However, both fell short, with Tiger 3 collecting around 450 crores and Salaar concluding its run with approximately 600 crores in worldwide gross.

The film that came closest to the 1000-crore mark was Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, projected to finish around the 900-crore mark. Even SRK’s Dunki failed to breach the 500-crore mark.

Looking ahead, the film with the potential to reach the 1000-crore mark seems to be Pushpa 2, fueled by significant hype. After Pushpa 2, only Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli can be expected to be a sure contender for the 1000-crore club films.

While a movie with a major star and substantial anticipation can still rake in 500-600 crores worldwide, it must be exceptionally well-made and appeal to all sections of the audiences to achieve the coveted 1000-crore status.
