Piracy is the biggest menace for the film industry which is causing huge revenue loss to the industry. Once the films are released, within no time, pirated links are circulating the pirated versions resulting in big dent in the actual collections of the movie. They are collecting as much money as the size of cine industry’s revenue for 2000 odd movies in India.

For example:- According to the data available, Baahubali, the biggest motion picture in India recorded 15.78 lakh downloads. By the end of the opening show, the Hindi pirated version of the movie was available online through pirated links. Well educated and equipped techies are employed to make such pirated versions.

Industry isn’t able to fight piracy because it’s so widespread that it has become nearly impossible to trace down the links. Though the links are brought down it’s not a big deal to create a new link. Tollywood saw the piracy at peaks when the big films released recently aka Baahubali, Srimanthudu, Rudramadevi and Bruce Lee.

Can you imagine piracy industry made Rs.360 crore with these four movies and India wide, the estimated revenue of piracy as a industry is around Rs.19,000 crores. Will keeping vigilance by the Internet Service Providers for such malicious sites address the problem? The problem is as humongous as the Film Industry is.
