Akhil Akkineni

It’s one year since Akhil Akkieni’s Agent was released on April 28.

Agent was one of the most ambitious films from Tollywood when it was announced. Directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Anil Sunkara, the film promised to be a spy thriller that could give competition to James Bond films.

But as the film approached its release date, there were negative vibes. The trailer, teaser, and songs failed to create any excitement. Speculations already had started that the film could turn out to be a misfire.

Still, there were hopes because the combo of Surender Reddy and writer Vakkantham Vamsi gave memorable films like Kick, and Race Gurram.

But all hopes came crashing down on the first day as Agent was not only a bad film but one of the worst films to be ever made in recent times. The film was produced on a huge budget of 90-100 crores and it couldn’t even collect 10 crores at the box office.

After the film’s release, Surender Reddy went missing. His film with Pawan Kalyan got shelved.

Akhil is clueless about what to do next. He hasn’t announced any new project after Agent. Writer Vakkantham Vamsi lost his credibility as a writer.

Producer Anil Sunkara who suffered huge losses still came out and gave an apology for making this film without a script.

Another tragedy is that the film still hasn’t been released on any OTT platform. One major hurdle hindering its OTT release is an ongoing legal dispute between a distributor and the producer.

Several posts have been circulating on social media on Agent completing a year. Akkineni fans have been taking a dig at Surendar Reddy for the pathetic film he delivered and vow that they will never be able to forgive him for this fiasco.

Agent is a film that destroyed the dreams and careers of many. It is a nightmare for everyone related to the film. It was beyond Wild Saala.
