Balakrishna and Boyapati’s Akhanda 2 is now confirmed for a December 12 release with paid premieres on the 11th. An official announcement is expected soon.
December 12 is an idle date since the film has been all over the media and public discussions in the last few days. A solid opening is possible.
The minus is North America, since the release there will take a hit. But for Balakrishna and Boyapati the key market is the Telugu states, not North America. The earlier pre sales for the original date were not great, so expectations were low until the actual talk came out.
The big question now is whether sympathy will help the new release date. Some believe the recent financial issues that delayed the film could create a sympathy boost for day one.
But the doubt is simple. Do people really care about production related issues? This is not the kind of controversy that creates a sympathy wave for Balakrishna. The real answer will be known only when bookings open again for the new date.
