Akhanda has set a new opening day record for Nandamuri Balakrishna. On the first day, it collected a little over 14.60 Cr in Telugu states, bettering the previous best, Gautamiputra Satakarni, by a good margin.
The opening was on expected lines, so it didn’t come as a surprise. What did is how well it has sustained on the second day. It has done well across all the territories. What it suggests is that the audience were hungry for a proper mass movie from a big star.
For months, many biggies kept on postponing its release due to external circumstances. Under this situation, Akhanda took the brave step and reaped the rewards. The hat-trick combo of Balakrishna with Boyapati Srinu did the rest.
With Saturday and Sunday up next, the collections are expected to increase further. The weekend number will take everyone by surprise without any doubt. Akhanda is already in the breakeven zone in the US. A couple of areas will likely join the list soon.
The real test for Akhanda will begin from Monday, when finally, word of mouth would kick in. It will decide the overall range of the movie.
