The first phase of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Master Plan recently submitted by the Singapore government has a recreational beach along the Krishna River. The road will host several resorts, riverside bar, restaurants, water sports and other facilities to attract tourists.
The beach roads will be developed all along Krishna and Guntur districts upstream and downstream of Amaravati. Apart from recreation, Singapore experts team also suggest trade-related waterways including development of water logistics hubs at Vijayawada and Tenali which will establish a connection between the Buckingham Canal between north and south sections of Krishna for easy engineering solutions.
CRDA is already developing a riverfront project, known as the Krishna Vijay Sagar project, downstream from Prakasam Barrage to a distance of 10 km. Amaravathi will have one metropolitan city, Vijayawada, one large city – Guntur, nine medium towns, and 291 small towns and villages with a total existing population of 58 lakh which is projected to go up to 1.1 crore by 2035.
