The actor had a strong phase with Arjun Reddy and Geetha Govindam. Since then, things have been far less consistent. Liger, The Family Star and Kingdom failed to make the expected impact, while Kushi also lost steam after its opening.
Now, Ranabaali comes with a completely different setting. The period action drama is mounted on a bigger scale and is set for an October 16 release during the Dussehra season.
But the real story is Vijay himself. He desperately needs a hit, and a lot is riding on Ranabaali. If the film clicks with audiences, it can give him the reset he needs and change the mood around his recent run.
That is why Ranabaali matters so much for Vijay. It is not about proving anything overnight. He simply needs his next film to work.
