When Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya’s next film Epic, directed by Aditya Haasan, locked September 11, 2026, as its theatrical release date, it was clear that Vijay Deverakonda’s film had been postponed from the same date.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Rana Baali has been facing delays, with a considerable portion of the shoot still pending. Rashmika Mandanna‘s recent injury also affected the schedule. She was advised to take six weeks of rest, further pushing the production plans. This led to speculation that Rana Baali could move to December or even early next year.
However, the latest industry buzz suggests the makers are reportedly targeting October 30, 2026, for Rana Baali. Rashmika’s recovery is said to be progressing well, allowing the team to get back on track and aim for the date.
But October 30 may not be the ideal release date.
Bollywood’s most ambitious Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, is scheduled to arrive on November 6. That means Rana Baali would get only one week before one of the biggest pan-India films enters the box office.
For a film made on a relatively big budget compared to Vijay Deverakonda‘s recent projects, Rana Baali needs a strong theatrical run. Ideally, it would need at least two solid weeks to maximize its business and move towards profitability.
A November 6 release for Ramayana could seriously affect Rana Baali’s second weekend and the crucial weekdays that follow. The bigger problem is the pre-release attention. Ramayana is expected to dominate social media and public discussions throughout the final week of October, potentially pushing Rana Baali out of the conversation even before its release.
Rana Baali is an extremely important film for Vijay Deverakonda. He badly needs to resurrect his career and rebuild his credibility after a string of spine-breaking flops and disasters. Rana Baali looks promising, so he simply cannot afford to reduce its box office potential by placing it too close to Ramayana.
That makes October 30 an interesting but risky choice.
There is also no official confirmation from Mythri Movie Makers yet. The production house is currently focused on Ravi Teja’s Irumudi, which is scheduled to release on August 21.
The final call from Mythri Movie Makers will determine whether Rana Baali actually takes on the Ramayana challenge or moves to a safer window.
