AP govt’s message is loud and clear!

There is a huge outrage over the encounter of 20 smugglers in Seshachalam forest, but Andhra Pradesh government is still keen on leaving no loop hole in protecting the precious wood. The state government is planning to dig a 10×10 feet trench around the five lakh hectares in five districts where red sanders is available so that the smugglers are kept at bay. The length of the trench would be around 1,564 km. As many as 3000 CCTVs will be set up along the trench and key points in the forest

The state is also tied up with the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) and a private US firm for satellite imaging of the red sanders trees to monitor and prevent the smuggling. With the help of these firms, every red sanders tree is to be geo-tagged and monitored from the control station.

Fifteen senior IFS officers are deployed to monitor the trench work and each officer is given control over 100 km of this project. The state government is planning to complete all these works by July.
