Tamil director Atlee is currently basking in the success of his recent Bollywood debut film, Jawan. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles and became a blockbuster within a few days of its release and is still running to packed houses.
Amid the roaring response the film is receiving, Atlee has expressed his desire, in a recent interview, to push the film for the prestigious Oscars.
In a recent interview, Atlee expressed his aspiration to submit “Jawan” for consideration at the Oscars. He stated, “I would also love to take ‘Jawan’ to the Oscars if everything falls in place. I think every effort, everybody, every director, every technician who is working in cinema, have their eyes on the Golden Globes, Oscars, National Awards, every award.”
This comment gained widespread attention on social media, sparking extreme trolling and criticism.
Jokes apart, Jawan brought a huge chunk of the audience back to the theaters, entertained them, and made a huge amount of money, etc., but that doesn’t mean it’s OSCAR-worthy or even for a National Film Awards. The only way Jawan can win an Oscar is if a new category is introduced, especially for Jawan: “Copy Paste Movie of the Year.”
Atlee should stop being delusional and start thinking of making something original next time.
