The Tollywood box office has been rather stagnant this August with not many films working the trick at the ticket counters. Mainstream films Mr Bachchan and Double Ismart struggled to pull the audience to theaters in big numbers.
And now, the ball has landed in Nani’s court as he is arriving with Saripodha Sanivaaram on the 29th of this month. Nani appears to be returning to mass genre again after Dasara with this film.
Vivek Athrey who is known for soft and sensible films has switched gears to make this film attain a mass look. Has the young and talented filmmaker succeeded at the job? We will know the answer soon.
Nani anyway has the goodwill of the audience and the onus is on him to pull the audience in big numbers to the theaters.
Compared to other months, August saw the highest number of notable releases, but sadly barring small successes like Aay and Committe Kurrallu(mostly word of mouth rather than BO numbers, there hasn’t been much to look forward to.
It has to be seen what Nani has in store for the viewers this time around as Tollywood is much in need of a hit and the audience are in search of quality entertainment.
