Telugu Film Distributor and Exhibitor Association has sent out a Press Note.
The Press Note says the Association is going to send legal notices to the Box Office Portals.
The Association says unauthorized publication of collection numbers is leading to tax raids, strained relationships between producers, and unnecessary fan conflicts.
Out of the three reasons cited, the first reason sounds very funny.
Revealing collections arise only for Tier-1 and Tier-2 star films. On most occasions, only the collections of Tier-1 star films become a point of debate. For those films, producers also announce collections and always these numbers are more than what the Box office portals say.
If there are tax issues arising for distributors and producers, the problem should be more because of the numbers announced by the producers as they are inflated.
Then what is the logic about box office portals leading to tax raids?
As far as the strained relationships between producers and unnecessary fan conflicts, those are not the issues concerning the Telugu Film Distributor and Exhibitor Association.
