Bollywood Hell Bent On Committing Suicide

Bollywood seems to be hell-bent on destroying itself. Even after Pathaan’s phenomenal success, and the disastrous fate of Selfiee and Shehzada, Bollywood is not able to understand the simple logic that the audience is just not interested in watching remakes that are available in their original versions easily on OTT.

Bollywood needs huge commercial masala entertainers that will give the audience some larger-than-life entertainment worth their ticket price.

According to the latest reports, Aamir Khan has decided to produce the Hindi remake of the Malayalam Hit Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey which garnered a lot of appreciation from all quarters after its OTT streaming. Fatima Sana Sheikh of Dangal fame has been roped in to play the female lead in the Hindi remake.

Aamir Khan is a shrewd guy but of late his choices have been blunders. First the remake of Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha, and now the remake of Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey which worked in Malayalam because of its regional flavor and the settings.

If any director shifts the same story to a different setting, different background, and different locations in the remake, the original story will lose its essence as it happened with many remakes in the recent past.

Bollywood makers have also discovered this new way of making quick money by producing remake movies and then dumping them on OTT. It means they have no interest in making good original content, they have no respect for the art of cinema and are just interested in making some quick bucks.

It may yield some favorable results for a short period of time and but in the long run, Bollywood will collapse. No wonder, the South industry, especially the Telugu film industry has taken over Bollywood in a big way.
