Director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious project, a modern retelling of Ramayan, is creating quite a buzz even before an official announcement.
In this Ramayan, Ranbir Kapoor is set to portray the iconic role of Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi taking on the character of Sita, and the formidable demon king Ravana will be played by the popular KGF star, Yash. Adding to the excitement, there are reports circulating that Sunny Deol, riding high on the success of Gadar 2, might step into the shoes of Lord Hanuman.
The film, under Nitesh Tiwari’s direction, is anticipated to commence filming around March or April of this year. Workshops for the project have already commenced.
With Prasanth Varma’s recent success in Hanu Man garnering a positive response from North audiences, the Hindi film industry is hopeful about the potential success of Ramayan.
But it is easier said than done. What director Prashanth Varma achieved with Hanu Man isn’t a piece of cake. He masterfully blended a superhero origin story with our Indian mythology and made excellent use of VFX to create an immersing experience for the audience.
However, Nitesh Tiwari faces the challenging task of delivering an authentic take on the epic while catering to the tastes of today’s audience. Nitesh Tiwari has a thin rope to walk on and must tread carefully, ensuring that the film remains true to Hindu mythology while presenting a novel and engaging narrative.
Achieving this delicate balance, along with maintaining high technical standards within the estimated budget of around 500 crores, will not be as simple as it looks.
