2024 can literally turn out to be a game-changing year for some of the talented directors whose last films were flops or underperformers.
Koratala Siva was one of the few directors who had a 100% success track record. But all that reputation went down the drain after Acharya. He suffered many personal, professional, and emotional setbacks after that film.
He is now coming up with Devara starring NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan. More than two years have gone into the making of this film. There are sky-high expectations from the film. Let’s hope Koratala gives a resounding success and makes a kickass comeback.
After the pretty interesting and successful Run Raja Run, Sujeeth jumped into the big league with Saaho. It was Prabhas’ next film after the monster Baahubali. But the film didn’t meet even minimum expectations. After a superb start, the film fizzled out and turned out to be a flop.
Now Sujeeth has teamed up with Pawan Kalyan for OG. It’s a gangster action film also starring Emraan Hashmi and Priyanka Mohan. We have to see if Sujeeth can redeem himself with OG.
Shankar’s last film was 2.0. The film did well at the box office but was a cost failure film due to its huge budget. The reviews also were pretty mediocre as the film didn’t match Shankar’s previous works.
Now he has joined hands with Ram Charan for Game Changer which has been in the making for three years. After a lot of delays and postponements, the film is nearing completion and is looking to release in October 2024, if things fall in place.
In the post-pandemic era, many great directors have faltered including Raj Kumar Hirani, Trivikram, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and others. We will have to see if Shankar has adapted to changing times and come up with a fresh style of narration or not with Game Changer.
