Cell phone subscribers to reach 100 cr mark in India

India will very soon be the centre for 1 billion cell phone subscribers as declared by the Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Our country already holds the tag of largest number of wireless users which makes it one of the biggest wireless markets in the world.

India is currently the proud owner of about 30 crore internet connections and 98 crore mobile phone subscribers at a population of more than a billion people.

This amount of cell phone users will soon reach a hundred crore by the end of 2015. Minister Prasad quoted that “the number of mobile phone users would go to 100 crore within this year, and we would increase the internet connections to 50 crore in two years.”
