A meeting of the board was held as soon as Pehlaj Nihlani took over charge as the Chairperson of CBFC and majority of the Board members voted in the favour of the film makers’ argument to allow the cuss words in the context of the film. When these words were banned, there had been ambiguity regarding the use of related words when sometimes the Board allowed some words and sometimes didn’t.
Giving a green signal to the list of cuss words is a welcome change from the film makers and people who speak for the freedom of expression. This means it also applies to regional language films because the earlier banned controversial list was circulated to regional Censor Boards even. Does that mean, the words like ‘Nee Amma, Nee abba’ etc which were banned earlier will make into films again?!
