Center Finalizes Roadmap to Re-Open Theaters?

Reports are emerging that the Union Government is thinking on the lines of allowing Multiplexes to Open from Mid-July. Multiplexes are planning to open some of their screens and chart a limited number of shows per day. They are going to test the waters with Christopher Nolan’s TENET which is releasing on July 31st.

The seating will be arranged so as to follow the social-distancing rules and the entire Audi will be sanitized regularly. The patrons will be mandated the use of masks and hand sanitizers. Once the Government feels the precautions are being followed, Single screen theaters will be permitted.

However, this may not be the correct way to gauge. Multiplex chains operate on corporate rules and will have the resources to enforce all the precautions. The major challenge of implementing these rules will be in the Single Screen theaters which are largely cash-strapped.

There is nothing like if the rules are enforceable in Multiplex, they can be enforced in Single Screen Theaters. So, the Government should be vigilant about that and plan the re-opening of the theaters. The clarity about Re-Opening of the theaters is likely to emerge in Unlock 2.0 which will be announced this month-end.
