Chiru ‘Acharya’ Turns Greedy in The U.S?

‘Acharya’ overseas rights were said to be bought for Rs. 11 crores and the breakeven figure for this amount is like $3.5 million in the overseas and $2.5 million in the USA. This looks like a high-risk venture in the overseas going by the present scenario.

Even if the movie turns out to be very good, the situation is quite different in the USA. People aren’t showing any interest in going to the theatres for watching movies yet in the US and they seem to be content with the content available on the OTT platforms, for now.

There is anyway plenty of content on OTT platforms and it will take only a solid big film to pull the crowds to the theatres in the US. In the past, a number of times the overseas distributors had burnt their hands regarding theatrical releases.

It’s really surprising to see the big numbers coming out when the COVID fear is still keeping the US audiences away from the theatres. But, let’s wait and see what happens.
