In recent years, Megastar Chiranjeevi has started working more with younger and new directors so that he remains relevant and stays connected with today’s audience while still delivering the mass entertainment his fans love.
His two big successes in recent times have been Bobby’s Waltair Veerayya and Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu with Anil Ravipudi. Both films proved that younger filmmakers could present Chiranjeevi in a way that appeals to both vintage fans and today’s audience. These back-to-back successes strengthened the idea that fresh directors can bring new energy to the megastar’s films.
Chiranjeevi’s future lineup also looks promising. After Vishwambhara where he is again working with a relatively new director Vassishta, he is expected to reunite with Bobby for another film. He has also announced a project with Dasara director Srikanth Odela, which has already created hype and buzz. In addition, industry reports say Chiranjeevi has liked a story narrated by debut director Srinivas Maya, who has been part of Sukumar’s creative team.
The story reportedly has a rural backdrop with strong emotional undercurrent. Chiranjeevi has not done a full rural mass drama since his return to films in 2017, so the idea seems fresh and exciting to him. Some insiders even feel the emotional tone of the script could remind audiences of Ram Charan’s milestone film Rangasthalam.
However, this project may take time to begin. Vishwambhara is expected to release in the next 3-4 months, while Bobby Kolli’s next film with Chiranjeevi could aim for summer 2027. After that, the project with Srikanth Odela may take nearly a year to complete, which means the Srinivas Maya film might only start around 2028.
Chiranjeevi recently took a short break after undergoing minor shoulder surgery, and he is expected to return to shooting next month.
