The film performed very poorly in the US on its first day (including premieres). The approx collection hasn’t even crossed the $20K mark on 80+locations.
The reason behind such poor collections is the poor planning of the US distributor. For reasons unknown, bookings were not opened for the Tamil version till Tuesday afternoon, which created a lot of confusion among the audience wanting to watch Cobra.
On the other hand, the distributor completely ignored the Telugu version, and there were zero premiere shows in Telugu.
The film had a decent buzz due to its variety title and interesting trailer. But as word of mouth isn’t encouraging, the Telugu audience might stay away from Cobra. There are very few chances of Cobra picking up over the weekend and posting decent figures.
However, Cobra had a good start in Tamil Nadu due to the festival.
