Overseas Warning to Fans: Coolie Collections Fake?

Coolie box office debate on social media

Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, hit theatres on August 14th. The movie has received mixed reviews from audiences across different regions.

Since its release, social media has been buzzing with box office collection updates from all over the world. While Rajinikanth fans have been sharing inflated numbers, some of his critics have posted unusually low figures, often to highlight their own favourite stars.

In response to this, Hamsini Entertainments, the official overseas distributor of Coolie, issued a public statement regarding the circulation of unofficial box office figures.

In their statement, they clearly mentioned that only the production house and Hamsini Entertainments are authorised to release collection numbers. Any other sources, they stated, are unreliable.

They also warned that any deliberate attempt to mislead or harm the film’s reputation on social media would invite strict legal action. This includes defamation claims and financial compensation for damages caused.

The statement further stressed that sharing false numbers or misleading comparisons affects not only the film’s reputation but also confuses audiences who rely on authentic information.

Following this, netizens started calling out some Rajinikanth fans for claiming Coolie as the highest-grossing Kollywood film in overseas markets. On the other hand, some Vijay fans were accused of downplaying the collections and comparing them to Vijay’s past hits to prove his superiority.

Hamsini Entertainments’ open note has now gone viral, sparking widespread discussion online, with fans and neutral viewers alike sharing their take on the issue.
