Lokesh shines in DC trailer
The trailer of DC has finally arrived. While the film marks the acting debut of acclaimed filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, the trailer also promises an intense action drama that stays true to director Arun Matheswaran’s signature style.
Arun Matheswaran, known for films like Saani Kaayidham and Captain Miller, once again delivers a gritty and violent visual world. The trailer is packed with raw action and an atmosphere filled with tension from start to finish. However, the overall impact is average, typical Arun Matheswaran style with not great box office potential.
Lokesh Kanagaraj appears surprisingly confident in front of the camera. Though there is nothing extraordinary about his performance, his rugged look and restrained acting suit the character well.
Another interesting aspect is the film’s story. According to the makers, DC is a modern-day reinterpretation of Devadas set against a gangster backdrop. That unusual blend of emotion and violence immediately sets it apart from routine action films.
As expected, Anirudh Ravichander’s background score is terrific. His music amplifies every action block and emotional moment. Technically, too, the film looks impressive. The cinematography, production design, and action choreography all contribute to the dark, gritty world that Arun Matheswaran has created.
The trailer does not reveal too much. Overall, DC looks like a bold and stylish action drama rather than a conventional commercial entertainer. The trailer succeeds in introducing Lokesh Kanagaraj as an actor. However, whether the film succeeds at the box office will depend on how well audiences connect with its blend of love, emotion, and violence.
