Director Lokesh Kanagaraj‘s acting debut film DC directed by Arun Matheswaran, which was originally scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 31st, has now been postponed to a new release date to avoid clashing with Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.
Since the announcement, DC has carried huge expectations among the audience, as people are eagerly awaiting witnessing Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting performance. The hype for DC has also doubled with Anirudh Ravichander’s background score named Raga of Revenge from the trailer, which became a viral hit.
While everything went as per plan and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s DC was gearing up for a theatrical release on July 31st, all of a sudden, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan grabbed the July 23rd release date, creating trouble for DC. Since Jana Nayagan is one of the most anticipated films in Kollywood and will have a solid theatrical run for at least two weeks, the DC team has now decided to postpone the film to August 7th.
The makers of DC have officially confirmed the postponement by releasing a special poster. In the special poster, they have also confirmed that DC received an A certificate from the CBFC board.
In response to these updates, many people on social media are criticizing Vijay by commenting that without having a proper release plan, he is terribly affecting the smooth release of other medium-budget films.
Meanwhile, regarding the A certificate update, many people are commenting that DC is the second consecutive A-certified film associated with Lokesh Kanagaraj after Coolie. Also, many people believe that DC will be an intense revenge drama film with a lot of adult content in it, which is why the film has received an A certificate from the Censor Board.
Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether DC will satisfy the expectations of the audience and emerge as a blockbuster success, helping Lokesh Kanagaraj mark a solid debut as an actor upon its release on August 7th.
