Puri Jagannadh last tasted a debacle with Liger. Apart from the obvious shortcomings on the story and narration front, Puri faced criticism for setting up the base in Mumbai.
Almost entirety of Liger’s production happened in Mumbai. This is alienated stuff for Tollywood folk.
In fact, Anand Deverakonda, the brother of Vijay Deverakonda said he didn’t watch the copy of Liger till two days before the release. The production happening in Mumbai is the reason for the same. The exhibitors also said they couldn’t reach Puri after the release as he wasn’t available in Hyderabad and was entirely in Mumbai.
But even after the debacle of Liger and the subsequent backlash for Puri setting base in Mumbai, he has stuck to the same now. He has launched his new film, Double Ismart in Mumbai.
The shoot also commenced in Mumbai. The majority of Double Ismart’s shoot might happen in Mumbai now.
While people might expect Puri to learn a lesson after the Liger debacle and the connection with Mumbai, a place not to acclimatised for Telugu films, he is continuing the pattern for Double Ismart now. Can he taste a better result this time? Or will the history with Mumbai repeat?
