Dhurandhar : The Revenge is facing legal trouble in Tamil Nadu ahead of the upcoming elections on April 23, 2026. A lawyer has approached the Madras High Court seeking a ban on the film.
The plea argues that the film should not be screened during the election period. It claims the content may influence voters and affect the fairness of the election process.
According to the lawyer, the film appears to promote a particular political viewpoint. This, he believes, could shape public opinion at a sensitive time.
Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar 2 has been performing strongly at the box office. However, it has also faced criticism for its perceived political messaging.
Some critics have described the film as having clear ideological leanings. A few have even called it similar to a large-scale political campaign.
The matter was heard by Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan. The court did not issue an immediate ban on the film.
Instead, the judges asked the lawyer to file a proper petition. The case will be taken up again once the required legal process is completed.
A quick hearing is expected after the petition is submitted. The final decision will determine whether any restrictions are placed on the film.
For now, Dhurandhar 2 continues its theatrical run. The situation remains under legal review as the election date approaches.
