This Diwali, dubbed films have flocked the box office as two Tamil dubbed films Jigathanda Double X and Japan have released at the box office on 10 November. Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 is set to release on 12 November.
Neither of the two films had much going into the release as they didn’t carry any pre-release hype. In accordance, neither got particularly good openings at the box office.
Karthi’s Japan had comparatively better openings, given Karthi’s decent market in the Telugu states. But the word of mouth is poor in the Telugu states, so we have to see how the film fares over the weekend.
Jigarthanda is a complete non-started despite it being a sequel. Telugu audience didn’t show any interest in the film. The weak word of mouth didn’t help the cause either.
Salman’s Tiger 3 is also releasing amidst low buzz and if anything, the film could do well in the Hyderabad belt, where Hindi dubbed films tend to have a decent market. But the early reviews and word of mouth will be the key for this film as well.
We have to see which of these three dubbed films will emerge victorious at the box office this Diwali season.
