Tollywood’s most sought-after music directors, Devi Sri Prasad and Thaman, are in a strange position these days. Despite years of delivering hit music, their talent is again being questioned due to some of their recent works.
DSP won the National Award for Pushpa which is an outstanding achievement. But honestly speaking, the music and BGM in Pushpa were not greatly received after its release, especially by the Telugu audience.
Then Allu Arjun’s reach and the film’s pan-India appeal made the music popular, especially among the North Indian audience.
He is right now sitting on a gold mine called Pushpa 2 which has the chance of doing unimaginable business on a pan-India level. He has to surpass all his past works and deliver something that is spectacular and matches the humongous expectations of people across the nation.
He also has Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Kanguva and he has to prove himself with those films as well.
On the other hand, Thaman hasn’t been in great form after blockbusters like Akhanda and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. He has a huge lineup of biggies coming up.
Guntur Kaaram is the most ambitious film for Thaman and there is huge pressure on him to deliver big time. His recent work in Skanda and Bro left a lot to be desired and fans are skeptical if he can score good music for Mahesh’s film.
Thaman also has Bhagavanth Kesari, OG, and Game Changer coming up in the next few months and he has a big task of reaching the expectations.
Anirudh is already making his way into Tollywood, and music directors like Santosh Narayanan and Hesham Abdul Wahab are also delivering popular music.
Despite their memorable past track record, DSP and Thaman have to prove themselves all over again to stay relevant in these current times.
