Fancy numbers fetish fetching big for AP

Vijayawada is always a place for Luxury Cars, the city always boasts the arrival of the just released models as soon as they are released in the market. And adding to that the car owners are ready to pump a fortune to secure fancy registration numbers.

The RTA department of Vijaywada had earned 1.51 Crore through auctioning of fancy registration numbers in 2013 and Rs.1.98 crore in the next fiscal. The department had already earned Rs.1.22 crore in this year and they are targeting to cross Rs. 2.5-crore mark by the end of the financial year.

Recently, an Audi sedan owner, who bought the vehicle for Rs. 52 lakh, shelled another Rs. 5.01 lakh for obtaining the registration number (AP16CZ) 9999. The number (AP16 CZ) 3456 was bagged for 2.31 Lakhs, Rs. 2.04 lakh were spent to secure the number (AP16 DA) 4444. Similarly, the number (AP 16 DA) 5678 fetched the department Rs.1.25 lakh.
