Fate of Villain – Easter to New Year to May Day

The title says it all and that has been the fate of Kamal Haasan starrer Uttama Villain. The film which was once slated to have an Easter weekend release is now positioned to release for May 1st to cash in on the May Day holiday advantage.

This release is of course a ripple effect of things happening at the Telugu market and severe competitive choc-o-bloc schedule that lies ahead. From the big release of Son of Satyamurthy this weekend to multiple releases like Kanchana 2, Ok Bangaram, and Dochay along with Avengers 2 etc are the reasons for this long delay in release despite the censor work on the film getting done with a clean U rating.

What this also means is that the Tamil film schedule too would be impacted. Couple of big movies which were slated to come for May Day will now have to reschedule there releases due to this barging in by Uttama Villain.
