The month started with Tamil dubbed film Pattudala featuring Ajith Kumar and it was a washout. However, this was quickly followed by Naga Chaitanya who arrived in theatres on Feb 7 with Thandel.
Thandel has Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles, and it could do reasonably well at the box office. The makers even communicated that the film had collected Rs 100 crore gross in full run. This is by far the biggest hit in Naga Chaitanya’s carrier, and also that of the Akkineni family.

Then came Laila, featuring Vishwak Sen, and it turned out to be one of the most embarrassing films in recent times. It was such a big calamity that Vishwak promised not to do such vulgar films in the future.
Chhaava wreaked havoc at Hindi box office and the Hindu dubbed version did pretty well in parts of Telugu states as well. The Telugu version is set for release on March 7 now. It could run on the strong Hindu sentiment.

Bramhamanandam and NEEK could not make any bliss at the box office though. Another dubbed film, Dragon worked pretty well and is going to be a double digit grosser in Tollywood.
Yesterday’s release Mazaka opened to decent reviews as well. It could also find its audience at the box office this weekend.
Of the 10 or something notable films that released this February, 4 of them(Thandel, Chhaava, Dragon, Mazaka- tentative) have turned out to be winner at their capacity. At the end of the day, 40% strike rate is not bad for an otherwise dry month of February.
